How To

How to make the perfect omelet

Omelets are one of my favorite foods to eat at breakfast. But how do you create them perfectly? Many different recipes and methods have failed to work for me. So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

When making omelets, it is important to be aware that eggs can be temperamental. They must be fresh, preferably from the organic market, and be kept cold until cooking. You must keep them cool enough to allow the whites to form properly and the yolks to become too runny if they're not kept at the right temperature. This makes your omelets look weirdly colored. It is best to use room-temperature eggs if you are going to cook them right away.

Another tip is to separate your egg before adding it into the pan. You don't want any white to get mixed up with the yolk because this could cause the omelet to curdle.

If you add the egg directly onto the stovetop, you might end up burning the bottom part of the egg, which would ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, microwave the egg for 10 seconds before adding it to the pan. The microwave heat cooks your egg just right, without it becoming too soft.

Next, let's talk about mixing the eggs. You want to mix the eggs thoroughly before you add them. To do this, take the bowl from the mixer and flip it upside-down. Now shake the bowl vigorously. The egg will be thoroughly mixed in the bowl as the air is whipped.

Now comes the fun part - pouring the milk into the mixture. First, pour half of the milk into the beaten eggs and then fold the eggs gently into the remaining milk. Don't worry if there are still streaks of egg visible; these streaks will disappear once you flip the omelet.

After folding the eggs, place the pan on medium heat and wait for the oil to start sizzling. Add 1/4 cup butter to the oil and swirl it around to coat all sides of the pan. Now carefully crack open the lid of the pan and sprinkle salt into the pan. A pinch of salt will prevent your omelet from sticking in the pan.

Cover the pan once you have formed the omelet. Wait for the top to set. Flip the omelet over using a spatula or flip the pan upside down. Cook the second side for a minute or so. Serve the omelet immediately by removing it from the pan.

This recipe works best when you use whole milk.
